Wood Figure of an Ibis, Egyptian, New Kingdom 1570-1070 BC

Reclining ibis, the nicely carved head with the sickle-shaped beak is calmly resting on the body. Traces of gesso overlay.

The sacred ibis stands for the Egyptian god Thot.
