Mayan Seated Dignitary, Late Classic Period, 600-950 AD

Terracotta figure with hollow body with a whistle mouth piece incorporated in the right shoulder.

The head depicts a stern expression. Elaborate hat in the shape of a jaguar head and large ear spools. Jaguar skin covers his the cheeks.

Black and red color for the skin of the man, yellow for the wrapped loincloth and the skin of the jaguar. Red on the necklace.

Intact and of museum quality.
