Greek Terracotta Head with Archaic Features, from Tarent, 500-475 BC

Sizeable head of a man with large closed beard. The face with almond-shaped eyes, an intact nose and a calm archaic smile.

The forehead is topped by a diadem with cross-stitched bordure and a chipped adornment at center.

Broken at the neck, several chips out of the beard. Remains of grayish pigment on the diadem, red pigment behind. Root marks.
