Roman Marble Face of a Child, 240-250 AD

Lifesize head of a child with chubby face and full cheeks. Short cropped hair above the narrow forehead.

The eyes show softly marked lids, incised irises and drilled pupils. They melt with the face, the lower lid consisting of an incised line only.

Fragmentary. The slightly upturned nose and the pursed lips with minor hits. Surface preserving its ancient polish. Root marks.
