Costa Rican Chocolate Pot, Late Period, 1-500 AD

Atlantic watershed tripod with a bulbous body and slightly flared rim. Indented bulge between rim and body.

The hollow legs are rendered as reptile-like figures and also look like faces. The handles repeat this feature.

The legs with vent slits and small balls inside to use the vessel as a rattle.

Red-brown glaze slightly worn. Good condition. One missing handle restored.
