Egyptian Funerary Cone, New Kingdom, 1570-1070 BC

Noted Egyptian cone stamped with well shaped hieroglyphs arranged in a rather unorthodox manner.

Four human-shaped hieroglyphs determine the end of names or titles. Macadam renounces to make a translation of the text observing that the sense of the writing is obscure.

The group of signs at the lower right might be read as Amenhotep.

Registered as fig. no. 374 in Macadam's Corpus.

Museum quality and condition with pristine stamp. Remains of white pigment. Impressions of a child’s (?) hand on the shaft. Point of the cone missing.

D. 8.4 cm (3.3 in)
L. 11.8 cm (4.6 in)
