Etruscan Bronze Figure of Herakles, ca. 450 BC

Figure of Herakles with soft girl-like features.

The naked hero is wearing a lion skin and holding a missing club. On the outstretched left hand the apple of the Hesperides.

The contrapost of the figure is not understood yet. That the artist is still experimenting with this new Greek concept denotes that the figure is quite early.

Excellent quality and condition. Mineralized malachite green patina splintered off in places (nose, lion cap, shoulder).

H. 12 cm (4.7 in)
H. with stand 18.5 cm (7.3 in)
