Egyptian Terracotta Head of a Nubian, 1st Century BC/AD

Terracotta head with negroid features. The face with a furrowed forehead, bulged brows, wide open and heavy lidded eyes, a flattish nose and full open lips.

The head is almost naturalistic with a slight exaggerated air that places it in the grotesque tradition of the Hellenistic period.

Broken at the neck level, rear missing. Fine  modeling, surface worn in places.
