Apulian Red-figure Plate, ca. 330 BC

Pristine Apulian red-figure plate decorated with the profile head of a 'Lady of Fashion' facing a mirror.

The woman is wearing a richly ornamented sakkos, closed at rear, a spiked stephane, earrings and a necklace.

The head is surrounded by a wave pattern, a band of white leafs with berries and an offset lip with short strokes. The mark of another plate’s foot inside the shallow floor.

Excellent condition. Intact, small chip out of the rim restored.  The details of the headdress and the jewelry 'gilded' with dilute glaze.
