Unstamped Egyptian Funerary Cone, New Kingdom, 1570-1070 BC

Rare unstamped funerary cone. This variant is often mentioned in the literature as precursor of stamped cones.

Funerary cones represent the ends of roof support beams. They were inserted in rows above the entrances of non-royal tombs in Thebes. Unstamped cones are reported to reach back to the 11th Dynasty.
