Bronze Side Handles, Etruscan or Italic, 5th/4th Century BC

A pair of handles from a large bronze vessel showing elaborate palmette attachments with small sideward leafs.

Finely chiseled palmettes emerging from a central core over volutes. Bronze rivets and remains of solder under the attachments.

The handholds with a ridged bulge on the outer side and further bulges at the join to the terminals.

Hollow cast handles, one corroded to show the core and part of a lead filling. One sideward leaf on each handle missing. Pale green patina darkened in places.
