Egyptian Terracotta Head of Isis, Ptolemaic Period, 2nd/1st Century BC

Isis is showing a round face, half open eyes with heavy lids, a heavy nose and sensitive lips.

The hair is parted and combed in short sideward strands. The goddess, patroness of women and motherhood, is wearing an enormous stippled wreath which is surmounted by large flowers.

Fine modeling. Tip of the nose chipped, chin slightly abraded, rear missing.
