Rare Egyptian Mud Spheres and Ball, Late Period, 664-343 BC

Pair of roughly formed spheres of Nile silt each with a broad orifice on one side. Perhaps used to confection faience balls.

For similar spheres assumed to be for the manufacture of faience beads cf. item UC55347 in the Petrie Museum.

Intact. Joined by an imperforate mud ball.

H. 2.1 cm to 2.4 cm (0.8 in to 0.95 in)
