Etruscan Genucilia Footed Plate, ca. 300 BC

Etruscan high-footed plate decorated with a four pointed star on the shallow floor and triple dots in the interstices. The narrow bulged rim enhanced with five spiral waves.

Genucilia pottery was popular 350 to 280 BC in Caere (Cerveteri) and Rome.

The name of the group derives from a Faliscan or Latin lady named Poplia Genucilia. She was the owner of a similar plate inscribed with her name.
