Egyptian Terracotta Head of Isis with Original Surface, 1st Century AD

Large Egyptian terracotta head of Isis wearing a columnar crown.

The face rendered with full lips, straight nose and tiny holes on the cheeks.

The carefully modeled features are partially covered by the original gesso layer, which may contain white lead pigment that is swollen now.

Red color for the hair, eyelids and irises painted black.

Broken below the chin, upper part of the crown missing. Point of the nose chipped.
