Egyptian Bronze Amulet of Nefertum, Late to Ptolemaic Period, 712-30 BC

Bronze figurine of Nefertum, the Egyptian god of perfumes and unguents.

Nefertum wears the lotus blossom crown topped by two large plumes and with two menyet counterpoises on the sides.

The crown is placed over a tripartite wig with an uraeus at the brow. The figure wears his customary shendyt kilt and a braided beard.

Carefully modeled in the round with a suspension loop behind the crown.

Intact. Silvery patina with remains of cuprite.
