Egyptian Bull Statue of Apis, Late Period, 712-30 BC

Cast bronze statuette of Apis striding on a rectangular base.

The sacred bull carries the solar disk with uraeus between the horns and shows an incised triangle on the brow.

On the back the usual saddle cloth framed by open-winged scarabs. The heavy neck with an incised broad collar.

Apis was worshipped as a manifestation of the Memphite creator god Ptah.

Intact, fine condition.
