Etrusco-Corinthian Aryballos with Lions, 580-560 BC

Globular vase decorated with three lions facing right. Neat incisions on the heads, purple for the manes which surround the shoulders.

The short tails raised over the backs. Dot rosettes with incised crosses in the field.

Etruscan imitation of contemporary Corinthian wares. Close in style to the circle of the Züst Painter, who is considered in the third generation of the Vulci-school.

Rim fragments and shard out of the body reattached. Crazes fixed. Fine preservation.
