Indian Terracotta Plaque, 17th to 18th Century AD

Moldmade terracotta plaque of a woman seated cross-legged on an ornate column.

The woman shows a gentle smile, and neatly delineated almond shaped eyes. Her hairdo with wild strands. She looks towards the mirror she holds with her left, with the right she raises a blossom/flower.

Wearing finely woven knickers.

Intact, well preserved.

H. 8 cm (3.2 in), H. with stand 9.5 cm (3.7 in)

Swiss private collection, acquired in 1995 from Galeria Serodine, Ascona.
