Western Greek Fibula Bone Bird, around 400 BC

Bow adornment of a fibula in the shape of a bird. The body flat and round with a raised tiny head. Wings and feathers are rendered as incised lines. The wings crossed over the short tail.

The bone element is not pierced and was adhered to the fibula's upper side. Metal components of the fibula missing.

Mounted on an acrylic stand.

Beak lost, otherwise fine example. Roughened surface.
