Villanovan Impasto Ware Amphora, late 8th Century BC

Large Etruscan/Campanian impasto ware amphora of biconical shape.

The bulbous body with pairs of vertical ribs on each side. The tall neck strongly tapered in the middle.
The handles span from the slightly flared mouth to the shoulder.

Impressive vase in the Villanovan pottery tradition.

Hand-built dark brown impasto with carefully smoothed surface.

Carefully polished and fine. Small shard out of the foot and chipped areas on the rim restored.
