Softly modeled terracotta head of
the youthful Harpokrates.
The plump face with big eyes, a small wrinkle at the root of the fleshy nose,
and full lips with gracefully recessed corners of the mouth.
The hair is arranged in tight curls topped by lotus buds.
Skillful use of the modeling tool to render the hair at the back of the head.
Moldmade of two halves. Traces of a very thin white coating or slip. Red-brown
Nile silt.
Behind ink inscription in Arabic reading: 293/1.
Broken at the neck level. Superb modeling. Some abrasion of the nose.
