Etruscan Bucchero Oinochoe, around 630-600 BC

Etruscan oinochoe with vertical striation around the high-bellied body. The shoulder with a band of closed horizontal fans.

The vase shows a flared neck with round trefoil shaped mouth. The rim with small protuberances to either side of the ribbon handle. A fillet between shoulder and neck. Standing on a narrow base.

Rasmussen's oinochoe type 3b, related to vase no. 37 (pl. 9, p. 38 and 79) in: Tom B. Rasmussen. Bucchero Pottery from Southern Etruria. Cambridge 1979.

Uncommon type according to Rasmussen.

Part of the handle restored, otherwise intact and fine. Carefully polished surface. Small piece of iron adheres to the rim.
