Etruscan-Caeretan Oinochoe with Female Heads, Torcop Group, 350-300 BC

Red-figure oinochoe decorated with confronted female heads on the body and a single one on the neck of the vase. The women wear ornamented sakkoi with a lock of hair projecting at rear.

The added colors for the female skin and the facial details are lost.

Rich floral motifs on either side of the neck and below the handle.

The decoration is typical of the Torcop Group, a name given by Beazley after examples in Toronto and Copenhagen.

H. 26.5 cm (10.4 in)

Reconstituted from large fragments, small area below the handle restored, small portion of one saccos and one side volute contoured.

Ex Australian private collection. Joined by a typed archaeological report from the 1970s.
